Private Verification and Public Usernames

How identity is verified, what we keep, who can see it, and how your public name works.

Version 2026-09-13.2, effective 2026-09-04.

What we verify

Every host, guest, professional and Security Companion completes identity, age and liveness verification with our identity verification provider before using marketplace or booking features.

After approval we keep only what we need: your internal Timefolk account ID, the provider's applicant ID, your verification status and date, confirmation that you are an adult, and coarse compliance or risk indicators. We do not store or display your identity document, full legal name, date of birth, residential address or document number.

What the badge means

"Identity Verified" means only that identity and liveness checks passed. It is not a guarantee of anyone's safety, character or professional qualifications, and it is not an endorsement by Timefolk.

Security Companions carry four separate badges — Identity Verified, Liveness Verified, Security Licence Verified and Insurance Verified. Identity approval is never treated as proof of a professional licence.

Your public name

You never use your legal name publicly and you cannot type a username. After verification, Timefolk offers you a small set of generated, gender-neutral names that have no connection to who you are; you pick one or shuffle for another set.

Generated names are never derived from names, initials, birth dates, phone numbers, email addresses, nationality, ethnicity, gender, orientation, religion, address, document data or social-media handles, and we do not infer any of those things from verification data. Names are screened against offensive, sexual, discriminatory, political, violent and impersonating language, protected brands and public figures.

Your chosen name is permanent and is your only public identity: on your profile and listing, in bookings, messages, reviews, community discussions and notifications to other members. A new name can be issued only through a privacy, safety or moderation process; the old one is kept internally for fraud and investigation purposes and is never given to anyone else.

Other members can find you only by typing your exact username, or through marketplace filters (city, approximate distance, activity, category, languages, availability, price, rating). Legal names are never searchable.

Who can see your identity

Regular support staff see your public username and verification status only. Identifying data is reachable only by named senior roles, for an enumerated lawful purpose — payment and payout processing, tax reporting, insurance claims, documented safety investigations, court orders or lawful government requests, or another legal obligation — and every access is written to an audit log with the purpose and reason.

We keep a secure internal link between your account, your payment account and the provider applicant ID for fraud prevention, duplicate-account detection, ban enforcement, payment compliance, lawful requests and documented safety investigations.

We do not promise anonymity. Timefolk, our verification and payment providers, and public authorities may lawfully need to identify an account holder.
