What you pay, what your host earns, and what we take.

What the guest pays

The price is the host's hourly rate multiplied by the length booked. You see the full breakdown, including any taxes and fees, before you pay.

A convenience fee of 5% of the invoice is added at checkout, shown as its own line. It is charged on the total of everything else on the invoice and never on itself, so you can check it with a calculator. It is ours, not the payment provider's: card processing is listed separately and passed through at what the provider actually charges us.

You pay when you book, and your host has 15 minutes to confirm. Nothing is held on your card and nothing is charged later; if the host declines or lets the 15 minutes pass, the payment is refunded in full.

You are never expected to pay for your host's food or drink. Everyone pays their own way at the venue.

What the host earns

Hosts set their own hourly price within a published band for their city.

The host receives 80% of the core service price. Timefolk charges a flat 20% commission on that price as an intermediation fee for operating the marketplace, verification, payments, and safety operations.

Card processing is paid by the guest, added on top of the host's price at checkout. It is never deducted from the host's share, so the figure a host is shown is the figure a host receives.

Withdrawing your earnings costs a convenience fee of 1% of the amount withdrawn, alongside the payment provider's own withdrawal cost, which is passed through at what it actually costs. Both are named separately on the payout so you can check each one. Neither is taken from a session until you withdraw.

Tips are optional, can only be given after a session, and go 100% to the host.

Currency

Every listing settles in the currency of the host's city. That is what the host is paid in and what the price band is set in.

You are quoted and charged in your own currency where we support it. The exchange rate is fixed at the moment you book, so the amount you are charged and any refund both use the rate you agreed to.

Payouts

Host earnings are released after the session is completed, the dispute window has closed, and a verification re-check has passed.

Bank details are collected and held by our payment provider through its own flow. They never reach Timefolk.

There is no wallet, no stored balance, no peer-to-peer transfer, no cash, and no cryptocurrency.
